Student-athlete eligibility shall be determined in accordance with the eligibility rules of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the regulations of any applicable athletic conference (e.g., American Midwest Conference, Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference). For sports not governed by the NAIA, the College will apply comparable academic-progress and enrollment standards.
To remain eligible for intercollegiate competition, student-athletes must meet the following minimum academic requirements:
- 9-Hour Rule: First-time freshmen must earn at least 9 institutional credit hours (with a grade of C or better) before the second term of attendance.
- 12-Hour Rule: Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 institutional credit hours to be eligible to compete.
- 24-Hour Rule: Students (other than first-time freshmen) must have earned at least 24 credit hours during the two most recent semesters of attendance.
- GPA Rule: After attaining sophomore standing (as defined by NAIA academic or athletic classification), students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Progress Rule: Prior to the start of their second season of competition, students must have earned at least 24 credit hours; prior to the third season, at least 48 credit hours; and prior to the fourth season, at least 72 credit hours.
Eligibility determinations are made by the Athletic Department Eligibility Coordinator and the Faculty Athletic Representative, in coordination with the Office of the Registrar, in accordance with all applicable NAIA and conference regulations.
