Cottey College contracts with local medical providers to offer limited health services for students. The semester health fee allows students to see health care providers in the Health Services Office during scheduled hours without an office visit charge or the need to file insurance. They provide treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, health counseling, and referral services. We have a provider on campus for up to one hour a day, Monday through Friday, while classes are in session.
Students (or their families) are responsible for all medical expenses incurred outside of these services, including consultations with physicians outside of regular health service hours, X-rays, laboratory work, prescription medications, and any additional procedures or treatments required. Health Services offered by the College should not be viewed as a substitute for health insurance.
Students who experience a serious illness or injury may be referred for treatment, at their expense, to the Nevada Regional Medical Center, located only 12 blocks from campus. The College reserves the right, if parents or a guardian cannot be reached, to make decisions concerning emergency health problems for any student.
