Surveys major philosophical thinkers concerning questions of justifiable fundamental social and governmental arrangements and the desirability of political structures contrasted with personal freedoms. Coverage will include such key thinkers as Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Mill, Marx, and Rawls.
