This course is designed as an introduction to peer tutoring. The purpose of this course is to train students who excel in one or more subject areas as peer tutors. Excel, in this course, is defined as the student’s ability to achieve a B or better in one or more academic discipline and to be recommended by a faculty member as a potential peer tutor. Exceling, in this sense, will allow students to obtain the applicable skills to work alongside peers who need academic support, gain certification to be used in future pursuits, and to develop leadership skills associated with becoming a tutor.
